Chris Welton is a Wealth Management Advisor with Northwestern Mutual, specializing in financial planning, with a focus on integrating insurance and investments into a holistic plan while also incorporating tax mitigation strategies on selected retirement assets. Chris works closely with professionals, executives, business owners and family offices to help them formulate a plan to achieve their goals and manage financial complexity.

Prior to his insurance and investments career, Chris founded, ran and sold an online children’s party rental business.  He also served as a corporate business development and product management executive at several venture funded startups and incubators, including idealab and Chris began his career at Merrill Lynch & Co. in New York in investment banking and principal investments.

Chris earned an undergraduate degree in Political Science, Magna Cum Laude from Amherst College in Massachusetts and an MBA, Strategy and Finance with Honors from the University of California at Los Angeles, Anderson School of Management.  He has earned both a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) as well as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP ®) certification.  He also holds a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation. 

Chris and his wife Rosa live in the SF Bay Area and love to cook, go hiking in the local redwoods and having friends over for a shared meal.
